Sports Betting Sites in Canada

Bet on hockey, football, basketball and more at the sportsbooks we recommend for Canadian players — most also offer a full casino under the same account.

Many of the operators we review run a sportsbook alongside the casino on the same account — deposit once, bet on both. This page lists the operators whose sportsbook is worth using on its own merits, covering the leagues Canadians actually follow.

Until 2021, Canadians could only place parlay-style bets through provincial lotteries. Bill C-218 changed that in August 2021, legalising single-event sports betting nationally — so you can now bet on one game outright rather than being forced to combine picks. How you access it depends on your province: Ontario has a regulated private market under the AGCO and iGaming Ontario, while other provinces run sports betting through their government operators (PROLINE+ in Ontario’s lottery, Mise-o-jeu in Quebec, and so on). Most of the sportsbooks on this page are offshore operators that accept Canadians outside that provincial framework — we state each one’s status plainly in its review.

What makes a good sportsbook

Beyond the welcome offer, four things separate a strong sportsbook from a weak one:

  • Market depth — coverage of the NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB and soccer is the minimum; the better books add tennis, UFC, golf and eSports, plus deep player-prop and futures markets.
  • Competitive odds — the margin a book builds into its prices directly affects your long-term return, so consistently sharp odds matter more than a flashy bonus.
  • In-play betting — live, in-game wagering with odds that update in real time.
  • Canadian-friendly bankingInterac e-Transfer and crypto for quick, low-friction deposits and payouts.

Our Canadian-facing picks

Among the sportsbook operators in our directory, Stake and Tonybet are the ones we rate as solid all-round options — Tonybet in particular is one of the few operators we cover that is actually registered with iGaming Ontario, which gives Ontario players a regulated complaints channel. Several other sportsbook operators we list are rated High Risk; we include them because Canadians search for them, but each of those reviews explains plainly why we’d steer you elsewhere.

A sportsbook welcome bonus is almost always separate from the casino one, with its own wagering and minimum-odds rules — read those terms before opting in. To compare these operators against our highest overall picks, see the top rated casinos page; browse everything in the casino directory; and whether you’re betting on a game or spinning a reel, keep it within limits using our responsible gambling tools.
